This is Songkran, the traditional Thai New Year, and it culminates in a nationwide water fight. Water is a symbol of happiness and purity in the Kingdom, and what better way to mark the end of the dry season and the start of the rains than by chucking water on your fellow man or woman?

Nigeria's GDP has been revised up by 89%. Here are five things this tells us about the finances of Africa's most populous nation


Nigeria is now officially Africas biggest economy. Its GDP was revised up by to £307bn this week, after economists re-adjusted the way they calculate the figures for more than 24 years. Most other countries go through this process (known as "rebasing") every five years.


The new number now incorporates the revenues from Nigeria's newest business sectors, including its booming film, music, telecoms and e-commerce industries, which had been previously been overlooked for more than two decades.

Easter eggs sold at Coles shopping centres are being recalled because they contain an undeclared allergen: tree nuts.


The supermarket giant on Thursday announced it was recalling 510g bags of Coles Brand 30 Milk Chocolate Hollow Easter Eggs, as well as 300g bag Coles Brand Milk Chocolate Easter Bag containing milk chocolate bunny & hollow eggs.

MH370 search zone narrows in Indian Ocean

Planes and ships hunting for the missing Malaysian jetliner have zeroed in on a targeted patch of the Indian Ocean after a navy ship picked up underwater signals consistent with a plane's black box.


Thursday's search zone was the smallest yet in the month-long hunt for MH370, and comes a day after the Australian official in charge of the search expressed hope that crews were closing in on the "final resting place" of the vanished jet.

Xu Ye'an, 58, was deputy chief of China's state bureau for letters and calls the agency that fields grievances from citizens over injustices or disputes.

South Australian election: counting error did not affect result, commission says

An error in the counting of more than 1100 votes in the South Australian election last month did not affect the result, the electoral commission says.


The commission says an investigation has found that the error occurred when some votes for the upper house from one booth in Adelaide were transposed.
